1. Question for Senator Sanders... 2. Unions ARE sexy!
Question for Bernie
Small Business Loans would stimulate the sector that creates the most jobs for Americans. But it appears the goal of the Bush Administration has been to kill the small businesses and the merchant class along with the middle class. How will this be repaired? Will Small Business Loans now increase with this upcoming stimulus package?
ALSO:
A caller asked why the media ignores workers and unions. And I think I know part of the problem.
The media is interwoven with advertising and has become very much a twin to advertising via this association. And as advertising sells the image of sexiness, power, luxury, and risk/danger to sell product and services, the media has now come to do the same in the hopes to attract viewers/readers. And advertisers just don't see anything sexy, powerful, luxurious, flashy or risky/dangerous about showing up to work everyday and being a good citizen.
The investors in Hollywood products also seem to use the advertising formula of sexiness/flashiness/etcetera and favor financing primarily movies that are about the luxurious lifestyles (I suspect because they believe the viewers will then strive to duplicate what they see and buy more upscale, big ticket items the investors also make/market/invest in, so movies can become marketing tools).
Either it's time to expose the illusion (as a start watch the BBC documentary "Century of the Self" and get it shown in your local high schools and get it broadcast on your local PBS station), or join 'em by showing the OOMPH of the working world! (I know that workers SURPASS the banking class for strength and willingness to face danger -- my dad worked in the steel mill open hearths. Hollywood should take note that the working class is richer material than the rich parasite pansies wearing designer clothes. Sorry if this sounds like class warfare talk. But it's true.))
Here's that link for "Century of the Self":

It should be seen by every American.
Can we in the 21st Century heal this wound and bring ETHICS into advertising at last? I think advertisers should be regulated better, too. Truth in advertising AND ethics in advertising!

I appreciate what Yarrow is saying. I just don't want to see it twisted and abused and used to perpetuate injustice.
I hope ideas like Operation Respect don't mean that we are expected to back away from prosecuting the Bush Administration crimes.
I refuse to consider overlooking these blatant crimes and injustices in the name of 'respect'.
