Can you imagine that the same party that brought us, "Good job Brownie" would NOT have a leader from a whites only club? When I was graduating from law school our dean forgot to arrange for a speaker so she asked Orrin Hatch to do so. There was NO WAY I was going to let that asshole be the featured speaker at my graduation so I got online and did a search and found ALL kinds of amazing things about this guy, including but not limited to his own extremely racist background. This is going back a ways since I graduated in 1996, but remember those southern white cops who were busted for wearing tee shirts of black men being slammed down on to the hoods of police cars that said "Boys on the hood" There was general outrage from citizens but old Orrin was sure to get up on the Senate floor and defend these guys. Well, I found a website of a skinhead/racist type gang who had copies of congratulatory letters from them to Orrin and his response back to him. I also found he was and always has been a member of the Mormon church as well as one of their leaders. This church had to be sued by the US government back in the 1970s to stop their discrimination against blacks. But then again this is the same church that believes in the doctrine of Cain (that blacks are not equal to whites). I am not at all surprised the RNC would be run by a bunch of racist pigs.

End of Orrin Hatch story. I emailed him and the other senator from Utah that if he dared show his face at my graduation I would make it my business to embarrass him. I sent all the info I found to a reporter at the Union Tribune and she called the Chancellor of the University asking about whether or not it was appropriate to have such a person speak at school and then wrote an article about it. For some unknown reason (ME!) after having already accepted the honor of speaking, Hatch suddenly found out he had a schedule conflict. You can't tell me one person can't affect change. We need a lot more flies in the ointment (as well as those who are willing to do the work necessary to affect change).
